This afternoon I went for a long hike in the wilderness to photograph remote swimming holes. I saw butterflies, 4 squirrels, 2 large trout, 2 deer, 1 mosquito (thank God only one), and a rattlesnake!
It was the first rattlesnake I’d ever seen in the wild, in all my years of hiking. It saw me first and started rattling, and then got coiled up because it wanted to strike. I hiked by and it was gone by the time I returned to that spot on the trail. It was an ideal day for hiking.
I wanted to post some of our photos here, but just now realized my friend has the camera in his backpack. So maybe I’ll get to it tomorrow.
The swimming hole photos are for a blog I’m doing about swimming holes. I hope to have it ready for use by next summer.
