I’m so glad I joined Amazon Prime! I live in the boonies, not in a city. I’m in a tiny town in the middle of the Klamath National Forest. The nearest “city” is 75 miles west of here and that “city” has less than 7500 residents. Ordering online means a lot to me as there are no bookstores anywhere nearby.
I ordered 2 books on the 15th and they arrived today via UPS. This delivery took less than 48 hours. I don’t know where the package came from – I wish I did. According to this page their nearest fulfillment center is in Nevada. How the box could get from Nevada (I’ve heard it is in or near Silver Springs) to my door in the Klamath National Forest in less than two days, I just don’t know. I’ve always mentally added on a day to get anything from UPS in Yreka to our home in the forest. But… apparently Amazon can work miracles… or maybe I should give the kudos to UPS.
That’s another thing. Since joining Amazon Prime, the packages come via UPS rather than USPS. A good thing as I keep hearing the USPS has severe financial problems and may be shutting down in many areas. Probably all those high wages have taken their toll. Government waste, and all that. With email replacing all the letters we used to write to each other, and the paperless bills, and UPS and Federal Express, the USPS is being used less and less… but all those employees still have the high salaries. Quite the crisis. I’d miss the Netflix if the USPS closed down… but that’s about all.
Sorry about the alphabet soup, for those who don’t know what I’m talking about.
USPS = United States Postal Service
UPS = United Parcel Service, a private company
I wish I could get a commission on recommending Amazon Prime… but I don’t think this qualifies. I tried to find out if it does… and couldn’t find the answer. Anyhow, there’s the link in case anyone wants to investigate it further. It cost me $79 for the year, but in addition to fast UPS deliveries, I also get to watch a lot of movies on demand through the Amazon site. Not all movies qualify. Also if I had a Kindle there are a lot of free “loans” through Amazon Prime… but apparently that doesn’t get passed on to those of us using Kindle for PC. Still, I’m planning to get a Kindle Fire this year – after I pay my business taxes – so eventually this will be a benefit I can use.
Okay, if you’ve read this far, I’ll tell you what books I ordered this time. (1) Reunions: Visionary Encounters With Departed Loved Ones by Dr. Raymond Moody – recommended by a friend last Saturday, and in my hands on Tuesday. I like that! You may remember Raymond Moody’s name… he wrote a very popular book, Life After Life: The Investigation of a Phenomenon–Survival of Bodily Death, about near death experiences. (Life After Life was originally published in 1975 and I read it way back then.) The Reunions book tells about his work with contacting the departed through mirrors. It sounds strange, but my friend told me she’s had this experience spontaneously three times in her lifetime… the first time as a young child, when her dead grandmother came to her by appearing in a mirror. I’m planning to read the book partly out of curiosity, and partly because of my angst over my father’s passing last October.
The other book is similar… (2) The Psychic in You: Understand and Harness Your Natural Psychic Power by Jeffrey A. Wands with Tom Philbin. I’m psychic and I know it but not all that psychic. I mean, I’ve had a lot of psychic experiences as I’m sure most people have, but I’m not psychic enough that I’d start telling people I see their dead loved ones trying to talk to them through me. That’s what Jeffrey Wands does, and I’m wondering how to get there from here, or whether I’d even want to… so I’m reading his book for clues.
Today a friend stopped me downtown and reminded me that today was his dear departed wife’s “Angel Day”. She passed away six years ago. She was very dear to me and I already knew January 17 is the anniversary of her ascension day, as I’ll never forget her and the shock of her passing at age 33. While I was talking to her hubby I told him, “She’s still here and she loves you.” I said that with confidence because I’ve had some psychic communication with this woman since her passing, and know for a certainty that she loves her husband still, very much… probably more now than then, because of her ability to see and know more now. It occurred to me while I was talking to him that it would be cool if I could confidently pass on some message to him, without looking like a nutcase. If the recipient of the information gets no special clue the psychic couldn’t have otherwise known, then in general they have no real reason to believe the psychic. Maybe I’m getting too long-winded and detailed here.
Anyhow, the passing of my father has my psychic communication skills doing cartwheels, especially as I’ve had wide-ranging emotions toward him since his passing. I’m working through both good and bad feelings, and am not 100% sure I want to see him in a mirror or anything that drastic. But I am wanting to know more, so the books may be an emergency measure for me at this point. I’m glad Amazon delivered quickly, and I’ll be reading the Wands book tonight.
