My house might be ready for me to move into before Christmas! Merry Christmas, everyone!

Bible Verses of the Month
Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.” – (James 4:7,8)

What I’m Reading Now
✓ Nonfiction: The Johnstown Flood, by David McCullough
I’m reading this as a buddy-read with a friend I know from Booktube. So far it has been interesting learning the background of the town, the South Fork Fishing and Hunting Club that owned the dam, and the dam itself. People in Johnstown knew the dam could break but they underestimated the amount of damage that could cause.
I finished reading this book on December 9. Here’s my review at Goodreads. Five stars.
✓ Romantic Suspense: Mistress of Mellyn, by Victoria Holt
I used to read Victoria Holt novels during my early adult years… one right after another. I have no idea what the titles were, for the most part, so I don’t know which ones I’ve read and which I haven’t read. I saw this book at Audible and decided to give it a listen – and so far I’m enjoying my revisit to the extraordinary writing style and talent of Eleanor Alice Hibbert Burford aka. Victoria Holt. (Among other pen names.)
Update: I finished reading the novel on December 9. Loved it. Five stars. Here’s the Goodreads review.
The beautiful author –

Planning to Read
☆ Historical Fiction – Lord Hornblower, by C.S.Forester
There are 11 novels in this series and I’ve read 9 of them.
Impulse Reads
★ Romantic Fantasy: Thornyhold, by Mary Stewart
Another Mary Stewart novel. I’m planning to read all her romantic suspense novels. This one is also a fantasy, as I hear it said.
My December 2023 Reading Diary
December 1 – Merry Christmas! The season is upon us. Great JOY…
I’m praying for you, Naomi… and your family as well. Merry Christmas!
December 9 – I finished reading a book!!! It is the one about the very tragic Johnstown Flood. I’m also about to finish reading the Victoria Holt novel. It is just as good as I remembered her writing from many years ago when I was a young adult.
House news: The house is still possibly going to be finished before Christmas. What’s left to be done: The porch railings. Closet doors need to be painted and hung. Countertops will be installed next weekend and then sinks can be installed. Electricity will be turned on in about ten days. Plumbing still needs to be connected to pipes outside the house – this is slowed by my need to use the same utilities in my travel trailer at this time. Appliances have been ordered and will be installed after the 14th. The bathrooms need mirrors. Ceiling insulation needs to be blown in. So far as I can tell that’s everything. But what do I know? I’m not a contractor and there’s probably more to be done than I’m aware of.
Later – I finished reading Mistress of Mellyn. Awesome.
