The world is getting colder but I’ve just discovered my new bed is the most comfortable place ever for reading. It is one of those beds that, with the touch of a button, morphs into the “zero gravity” position. I’m so glad I got this bed! My plans for October include: read, think deep, and be happy. I’m hoping to live in peace with everyone, and to trust God in every situation.

Finished Reading This Month
✓ Fiction: One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, by Ken Kesey
Finished October 2 in the early morning hours. I listened to an outstanding audio performance of this book by narrator John C. Reilly. Review
What I’m Reading Now
★ History: The Great Bridge, by David McCullough
This is the book we’re reading this month for the McCullough Readalong. The schedule gives another four weeks, and then there’s a two-month break before the next McCullough book. I’m almost mid-way through the book, at chapter 11, and am enjoying the information as presented. It is mind-boggling to think of all the difficult work done on this bridge, and in terribly adverse circumstances. I cannot help but admire those who labored on this project to earn their money.
★ Christian Nonfiction: The Lord, by Romano Guardini
This is an examination of the life of Jesus Christ. I’m reading this with friends on a theology Discord group. (Truth: I am way behind on reading this now.)
★ Classic Fiction: Les Misérables, by Victor Hugo
I may be the slowest reader of Les Miserables in the history of mankind, but I do still occasionally pick it up and when I do, I enjoy reading it. As of October I’m nearly halfway through this lengthy novel. I took a month off from reading this book in September. It was a book vacation. I’m ready to go back to it.
★ Art: The World of Urban Sketching, by Stephanie Bower
Because… ART. I love urban sketching!
★ Fiction: Brave Intuitive Painting, by Flora Bowley
More art! I’m at the point where I’m taking action on the prompt lists.
★ Christian Nonfiction: Clinging to Hope, by Charles R. Swindoll
I’ve rekindled an interest in reading this book. I have four or five more chapters to read.
My October 2024 Reading Diary

October 2 – I finished listening to an audiobook performance of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. Now I want to watch the movie!
