In Santa Cruz, CA For Novel Research – Where Motel Rooms Are Not All Equal

October 30, 2011 By Linda Jo Martin Leave a Comment

Mission Santa Cruz

After staying in a very nice motel for two nights in Aptos, I moved to a motel close to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and it is a bit of a let-down. The room is a lot smaller, the building a lot older. [Read more…]

Unexpected and Unbelievable – My Father Passed Away

October 29, 2011 By Linda Jo Martin Leave a Comment

I cannot even re-read that last post I put here on October 13. I was so happy about being able to go to the Bay Area and Santa Cruz to do my Perfection novel research and see my family again. The very next day, the 14th, my father was admitted to the hospital and then had two heart attacks. I hoped he would get better. Too much optimism, perhaps!

California Travel – Planning a Trip to Santa Cruz and San Francisco

October 13, 2011 By Linda Jo Martin 2 Comments

This is a re-publish… I took the article offline after my father passed away last October. Now I’m putting it back online. – ljm

I’m excited to say I’m planning a trip to Santa Cruz and San Francisco! I haven’t traveled that far in eight years . . . rather sad to say because I live only ten hours north of there near the California-Oregon border. I just don’t travel much anymore, mainly because I couldn’t afford to. But now I’m making the supreme effort and planning to spend about $1000 on this trip.

Keeping The Home Fires Burning While Writing Novels

October 12, 2011 By Linda Jo Martin Leave a Comment

It is that fireplace time of year, and we have no wood, so how am I to keep the home fires burning? When I came to the Klamath River Valley to live – nearly twelve years ago – I had no idea how to heat a house with firewood. It is primitive! That’s certain! I was a San Francisco Bay Area girl born and bred, and was used to turning up the thermostat to keep warm. Nothing more.

The Business of Bigfoot

October 11, 2011 By Linda Jo Martin Leave a Comment

I’ve been a Bigfoot researcher since 2005. It all started when I was sitting in my little office inside the laundromat here in Happy Camp, California. Yes, we have a laundromat with an office room in the corner, it was for rent, and I paid 2/3 of the rent while the Chamber of Commerce paid the other 1/3. This is a very small town!

Lemonade Diet and Going Vegan

October 3, 2011 By Linda Jo Martin Leave a Comment

My chances for getting health insurance are slim, so I’m taking charge of my own health by doing the master cleanse lemonade diet. I’m currently on day ten of a fast that will last until my tongue turns pink, 30 days, or I cave – whatever comes first.

What’s New for October, 2011 … Delays! Can you believe it?

October 2, 2011 By Linda Jo Martin Leave a Comment

Happy October! It is weather-change month around here in far-northern California. We’re getting a four-day storm in starting tonight. The trees that surround my villa cabin will love all this nourishment from the sky.

About Me

Hi, I'm Linda, the Book Lady, and I'm excited about reading. A book is a gift you give yourself. It is so much fun to open that cover and discover what was hidden within. Books share the wisdom of the ages with us. Who wouldn't want that? So I read frequently and encourage reading. If you're a reader, let me know by becoming my friend on GoodReads.

My novel, River Girl, is about a girl living in the Klamath River Valley.

All about Linda's Life.
