February is one of my favorite months of the year, but not because it is short. On February 14 I renew my annual subscription to Audible, for 24 audiobooks. (A Valentine Day’s gift to myself.) Also my mom and brother were born in this month on the same day (years apart of course.) February also brings us closer to the end of winter. It is a great month!

October brings the cooler weather and most of us (in this town) seem ready and willing. Mild weather is awesome. But then comes winter. Seasons change but it is always the same – usually either too hot or too cold with a happy month between the change. This is that happy month.

September brings the hope of cooler weather, but around here there’s still forest fire danger. Our 2020 fire happened on September 8. Right now there are fires upriver and downriver, but so far this year my community has been spared. My challenge is to stay strong and well-planted here at home, hoping for the best, and reading peacefully.

My plan for May is to finish reading books I’ve started then set aside for various reasons. I have a shelf full of them. Since I’ve decided to “read what I own” in 2025 I think this will help me make progress. I pledged to read 100 books I already own before I buy anymore. So far this year I’ve read only 10. (Audiobooks are not counted in this challenge, so I can continue to buy and read as many of them as I want/need/desire.)
