Eliminate Personalized Search Results at Google

April 29, 2012 By Linda Jo Martin Leave a Comment

Eye on Google

A month ago I sent my first-ever email to Google. I asked for a way to get a plain-vanilla listing in search results rather than all the personalized search results – which are not what a content writer needs to see. [Read more…]

Dear Mad’m Day: An Annual Literary Celebration

April 28, 2012 By Linda Jo Martin 4 Comments

Dear Madm

About a year ago I kept getting a nagging inspiration that wouldn’t go away. The words, “Dear Mad’m Day” kept popping into my brain. I wonder if I was being inspired by friends in the great beyond.

I shared my idea with Judy Bushy during one of our weekly Happy Camp Writer’s Club meetings at the Frontier Café. At that time, Judy and I were the only ones showing up for the club! She liked the idea and we took it to the Chamber of Commerce.

A Return to the Writers Club

April 23, 2012 By Linda Jo Martin Leave a Comment

A stack of classic books.

Yesterday I returned to our local writers club for the first time in several weeks. In my absence two people dropped out. One left because he didn’t like the new rule that dogs are not allowed at club meetings. I was sorry to see this dog-loving man go. Apparently he doesn’t want to leave his dog alone at home like most dog owners do. The other person’s decision to give up on the writers club was more mysterious. I went to his door to see what was up and he said, “It has run its course for me; I’ve had enough.” That makes me wonder what happened while I was gone.

Publishing Opportunities for Writers: Adjust Your Expectations

April 14, 2012 By Linda Jo Martin 2 Comments

I have compassion for novelists - they work so hard to create books, and get so many rejections.

There are hundreds of thousands of novels being written every year, and the publishing industry will not be willing to publish more than just a few of them. We can create our own publishing opportunities instead.

About Me

Hi, I'm Linda, the Book Lady, and I'm excited about reading. A book is a gift you give yourself. It is so much fun to open that cover and discover what was hidden within. Books share the wisdom of the ages with us. Who wouldn't want that? So I read frequently and encourage reading. If you're a reader, let me know by becoming my friend on GoodReads.

My novel, River Girl, is about a girl living in the Klamath River Valley.

All about Linda's Life.
