Hard to believe the end of the year is nearly here! However it is happening. Autumn leaves are falling bringing my awareness to my need for a new leaf rake.

Finished Reading This Month

✓ Historical Fiction: The Frozen River, by Ariel Longhon
This is a novel based on the true life history of a midwife who lived in Maine. Very well done, in my opinion! Here’s my review.

✓ Art: Beginning Pastel, by Paul Pigram
Great for learning to produce lovely landscape art using pastels. Review.

✓ Nonfiction: The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning, by Margareta Magnusson
Great inspiration for those of us who don’t want to leave a mess for our families to clean up after we die. Review.

✓ Fiction: What Kind of Paradise?, by Janelle Brown
I loved reading this book. My review.

✓ Classic Short Fiction: The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, by Washington Irving
A wonderful classic novella (or short story) – Here’s my review.

✓ YA Dystopian: The Grace Year, by Kim Liggett
Audiobook. If I’d realized this is YA I wouldn’t have purchased it, but too late now. I’m listening to it. Gotta love pink covers!
Finished reading 11/4. Not my favorite, but thankfully it was a page-turner so it didn’t take long to read through it. I am not in the target audience for this novel. Review.
Reading Intentions

★ Biography: John Adams, by David McCullough
I’m still reading this.

★ Classic Fiction: Don Quixote, by Miguel de Cervantes
This is the first classic novel I need to read for my classical education project. I’ve read some of this before. Unfortunately I quit after about 300 pages because it seemed repetitious and I couldn’t love the stupidity of the main character. However, I’ve always wanted to give it another try, especially since I’m more devoted to reading now than I was then.
Did Not Finish – aka: DNF
I DNF’ed a novel called “Broken Country” by Clare Leslie Hall because it was about infidelity and was extremely depressing for multiple reasons. Published in 2025, it is just not my kind of book.
My November 2025 Reading Diary
November 1 – And so it begins.
November 27 – It has been a difficult month but I’ve done a lot of reading.
