I’ve been going to a writers group here in my local community. There are six of us “regulars” now which is great considering this is a very small town. We’ve been writing mainly about our town, but may be branching out as the months go by.

At Home, Revising a Novel on a Rainy Day
After two weeks and two days of travel, I’m so happy to be home! It is time to revise the second novel in the Antidiluvian Adventures series: The Seagull Rebellion. Actually it is past time for this revision. I wrote the first draft in 2002!

In Santa Cruz, CA For Novel Research – Where Motel Rooms Are Not All Equal
After staying in a very nice motel for two nights in Aptos, I moved to a motel close to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and it is a bit of a let-down. The room is a lot smaller, the building a lot older. [Read more…]
Unexpected and Unbelievable – My Father Passed Away
I cannot even re-read that last post I put here on October 13. I was so happy about being able to go to the Bay Area and Santa Cruz to do my Perfection novel research and see my family again. The very next day, the 14th, my father was admitted to the hospital and then had two heart attacks. I hoped he would get better. Too much optimism, perhaps!

California Travel – Planning a Trip to Santa Cruz and San Francisco
This is a re-publish… I took the article offline after my father passed away last October. Now I’m putting it back online. – ljm
I’m excited to say I’m planning a trip to Santa Cruz and San Francisco! I haven’t traveled that far in eight years . . . rather sad to say because I live only ten hours north of there near the California-Oregon border. I just don’t travel much anymore, mainly because I couldn’t afford to. But now I’m making the supreme effort and planning to spend about $1000 on this trip.

Lemonade Diet and Going Vegan
My chances for getting health insurance are slim, so I’m taking charge of my own health by doing the master cleanse lemonade diet. I’m currently on day ten of a fast that will last until my tongue turns pink, 30 days, or I cave – whatever comes first.

What’s New for October, 2011 … Delays! Can you believe it?
Happy October! It is weather-change month around here in far-northern California. We’re getting a four-day storm in starting tonight. The trees that surround my villa cabin will love all this nourishment from the sky.

Fighting CPS for Grandparents
Nobody needs to agree with me. Even if I face opposition, I will protest the evils of child protective services as long as I need to. However, a lot of people do agree – most of them, because they’ve had children taken from their families by this over-active, family-destroying government agency.

Business Ethics of Agents in the Writing Community
After trying for several years to prepare novels for traditional publishing houses, I'm gradually being swayed into the self-publishing market. I'm particularly interested in Amazon's Kindle and Createspace POD publishing. I like the Kindle option because there are many ways for people to read novels, even if they don't own a Kindle! For example, you could do what I do, and download Kindle For PC … for free! Then read Kindle books on your computer!

What’s New: February & March, 2011
I got so busy last month I never wrote a word in my blog about what I was doing! I fell behind in my work because of a computer problem – the fan went out and I had to order one from thousands of miles away. After that setback, at the end of the month I raced to get the March 2011 issue of Literature For Kids online – and also rushed to get my new business site online almost two weeks after my intended launch date.

Can a Community Ever Really be Unified?
Last night I attended a community business meeting at which a group of participants were talking about an absent person who had earned a bad reputation. Most of the people in the group were clearly incensed at something the absent person hadn’t done right, but a few others said we should forget the past, all be friends, and have a unified community.

A New Era of Creativity?
Will the watchword of the future be ‘creativity’?
We live in the Age of Information now… but people have to DO something with all that information, and I believe the next logical step is creativity. Already we’ve seen huge leaps in the creative responses of humankind, thanks in part to the Internet, but it started long before this. Way back in the mid-1800s there were amazing inventions that led to the world we’ve got today.
